From a spreadsheet to a personal archive
Champions Archive began when 300 games no longer fit comfortably in a spreadsheet
The project started with a real need: preserving years of Marvel Champions games without expanding lists, formulas, and worksheets every time a new release appeared.
Updated 2026-08-08The problem we wanted to solve
The original workbook already tracked wins, losses, campaigns, matchups, and achievements. It also contained tens of thousands of formulas and a structure that was hard to extend. Multiplayer games, changing decks, and new content made it clear that a spreadsheet was no longer enough.
The decisions that define Champions Archive
- Every game is a story and a snapshot, not just a row.
- Decks can have multiple aspects and games can have multiple players.
- MarvelCDB feeds the catalog but is never required to render your history.
- Import and export belong at the center of the product.
- Logging is mobile and fast; deeper statistics can use the desktop.
An unofficial project with its own identity
Champions Archive is a fan-made tool. It is not produced, endorsed by, or affiliated with Fantasy Flight Games, Marvel, or The Walt Disney Company. Its visual identity uses the idea of an editorial comics archive without trying to look official.
What we want to preserve over time
The app should remain useful to a single player, protect game history, accept new content without rebuilding the model, and let everyone recover their data. Social features are an extension; personal game memory remains the center.
